We recently started giving Chops £1 per week pocket money. The hope was that by giving him responsibility for it, he might stop asking for so many magazines/small toys etc every time we were near a shop as he could save/use his own money. It's one less thing that I have to say no to!
Today the boys and I had some errands to do in town and Chops asked to pop into the toy shop. I explained how much money he had and he spent a long time studying price labels before deciding there was nothing he wanted within his price range! He then asked to go into another shop where he immediately spotted a Francesco model car from Cars 2. He decided that he'd buy that and also start saving for one of the larger toys in the collection.
It's been interesting to see how much his priorities have changed now that it's *his* money. Nice to be able to go into a toy shop without hearing lots of 'I wants' too. Until Roly is old enough to start too...
